Decades Projections Project

This initial research I did when given my initial project brief was important because it gave me something to look back on the entire project. I mostly did research into concerts as well as looking for brochure inspiration.
I also did research into projection animations before I went on the Sheffield trip so I would know what sort of thing to look out for. It was helpful when I needed to take pictures and also when creating my own animation at the end of the project.
Before I contacted my band about their logo and showed them my initial designs I did more research on branding and live performances. This gave me time to have more knowledge in the area.
When I was ready to start designing my own animation and brochure I decided to do more animation into the topics so I would have a guide to follow and wouldn't be completely in the dark when creating these things for the first time.
The artist research I did was focused on bands that I thought were similar to my band. It helped my stick to a more limited style of work and kept me from straying into what I wanted to design.
The Sheffield trip was very useful in providing me with primary research. It also gave me lots of inspiration for my animation.
My initial designs and observational drawings let me grasp an idea before jumping straight into a digital design. This was helpful for getting my designs perfect and it also saved me time as I could show my band the initial sketches instead of showing them final designs to get their opinion.
I did record label research to gather a more general idea of the music published in that era.
The merchandise research I did was to gather ideas before making my own merchandise. It helped me to know what would be popular at the time and gather an idea for designs fitting with the audience demographic.
I believe that the brochure came out really well and utilising indesign made this project so much easier.
I had lots of communication with my band and my group members throughout the project. This helped me move through the project as a group and let me reflect on my work and adapt it to their needs constantly.
After effects was the software I used to animate my animation. It was very simple and taught me to animate properly for the first time.
Personally I didn't find the observational drawings helpful to my project his time other than developing my illustration skills more.
These were the original logo designs for my band, I decided to adapt these later after talking to my band but I still like the initial outcomes and it shows my progression.
My initial story board helped me stick to the plan with my animation and I found this very helpful. It stopped my habit of delving straight into designing instead of planning.
I think that my animation came out really well and I have written about my adaption throughout creating it.
I think that my final brochure was very effective and that my band really liked the design. This is because I put lots of time into making it perfect and had used all my research to inspire me.
I wanted to use mockups to make my work physical, I believe that these look very professional.
I didn't use letterpress in any of my final designs. I didn't adapt it any further but it did help to improve my skills.
My final logo designs were very popular with the band. I hit the nail on the head with my initial sketches as they liked the first one that I had made.
I made some extra curricular work because I really liked the idea of making a poster for the band. The left poster is based off the album In Rainbows by Radiohead and I really like the outcome.
